Formula
The current grade fills the share that is not the final:
Needed = (target − current × (1 − final weight)) / final weight
A result above 100 means the target cannot be reached even with a perfect final.
Assumptions
- The final weight is from 1 to 100 percent.
- The current grade already excludes the final.
Worked example
An 88 current grade, a final worth 20%, and a target of 90 need 98 on the final.
Input definitions
- Final exam weight
- The percent of the course grade the final represents.
- Target grade
- The course grade you want after the final.

Questions
What if the result is above 100?
The target is out of reach if the final is graded out of 100.
Does this use points instead of percents?
