Formula
Each GPA is multiplied by its credits:
Cumulative GPA = (GPA × credits, summed) / total credits
The course GPA page starts from individual classes instead of two finished GPAs.
Assumptions
- Both GPAs use the same scale.
- Credits are zero or greater, and not all zero.
Worked example
A 3.5 over 30 credits and a 3.8 over 15 credits combine to 3.6.
Input definitions
- First GPA
- A GPA you already have, such as a prior school.
- Credits
- The credit hours behind that GPA.
Limitations
This is a planning estimate for school or a calendar. It is not an official transcript, an attendance record, or a payroll ruling.
Questions
Can I enter a term and a prior cumulative GPA?
Yes. Put the prior record in one pair and the new term in the other.
Does the scale go above 4?
The field accepts up to 5, so a weighted scale can be combined.
