Formula
Fahrenheit shares its zero with a shifted Celsius scale:
°F = °C × 9/5 + 32
The oven page also shows a gas mark. This page is the temperature number only.
Assumptions
- The scale follows the ITS-90 offset: 0 °C is 273.15 K.
- A Fahrenheit degree is 5/9 of a Celsius degree.
- The result is shown with up to two decimal places.
Worked example
100 °C equals 212 °F.
Input definitions
- Celsius
- A temperature from absolute zero, −273.15 °C, upward.
Limitations
This does not adjust for wind chill, heat index, or an oven's thermostat error.
Questions
What is the boiling point of water?
100 °C is 212 °F at standard atmospheric pressure. This page does not check the pressure.
Where do the scales meet?
−40 is the same temperature on both scales.
