Formula
One round trip in a single stock:
Profit = (sell − buy) × shares − fees
Taxes on the gain are not taken out. Use the capital-gains page for a tax estimate.
Assumptions
- Every share has the same buy price and the same sell price.
- Fees are a single amount, not a percent.
Worked example
100 shares bought at $40 and sold at $55, with $10 of fees, profit $1,490.00.
Input definitions
- Fees
- Commissions or other costs for the round trip. Zero is allowed.
Limitations
This is an estimate, not a loan offer, tax filing, or investment advice. The currency control changes the symbol only.
Questions
Are dividends included?
No. This is the price change minus fees.
What if I sell below the buy price?
The profit is negative, which is a loss.
