Formula
Income ignores price. Yield uses price:
Income = shares × yearly dividend
Yield = yearly dividend / price per share. The dividend is not assumed to grow.
Assumptions
- The dividend is the cash paid per share in one year.
- You hold the share count the whole year.
Worked example
100 shares with a $2 yearly dividend pay $200.00.
Input definitions
- Dividend per share
- Cash dividends for one share over a year. Zero is allowed.
- Price per share
- The price used only for the yield.
Limitations
This is an estimate, not a loan offer, tax filing, or investment advice. The currency control changes the symbol only.
Questions
Does the yield include price gains?
No. Yield is the dividend alone.
What if the dividend is quoted quarterly?
Multiply the quarter by four and enter the yearly amount.
