Formula
The referral is a percent of the item price. The flat fee is added after that:
Seller fees = item price × referral percent + flat fee
Product cost is not included. This answers the fee, not the profit.
Assumptions
- The flat fee is charged once for this item.
- The referral uses the item price, not the price after the flat fee.
Worked example
A $48.00 item, a 15% referral, and a $0.99 flat fee total $8.19.
Input definitions
- Referral percent
- The percent of the item price.
- Flat fee
- A fixed amount added once. Zero is allowed.
Limitations
This is a planning estimate, not payroll, tax, shipping, or marketplace advice. The currency control changes the symbol only.
Questions
How is this different from the marketplace fee page?
That page is only a percent. This page adds a flat amount as well.
Can the flat fee be larger than the price?
Yes. You would then keep a negative amount, which means the fees exceed the price.
