Formula
Tax is the gross paycheck times the percent. Take-home subtracts that tax and the other deductions:
Take-home = gross paycheck − gross paycheck × tax percent − other deductions
The percent is not a national withholding table.
Assumptions
- One rate applies to the whole gross paycheck.
- Other deductions are a money amount, not a second percent.
Worked example
A $2,400.00 gross check at 22% tax and $50.00 of other deductions leaves $1,822.00.
Input definitions
- Tax percent
- The percent you want removed. It is not looked up from a filing status.
- Other deductions
- Benefits or other amounts taken from the check. Zero is allowed.
Limitations
This is not a withholding calculation, a W-4, or a tax return.
