Formula
Volume is length times width times height. Kilograms are that volume divided by the divisor you type:
Kilograms = length × width × height / divisor
A divisor of 5,000 is the usual centimeter rule. The dimensional-weight page uses inches and compares the result with a scale weight.
Assumptions
- All three dimensions are centimeters.
- Nothing is compared with the weight on a scale.
Worked example
A 40 cm by 30 cm by 20 cm parcel divided by 5,000 weighs 4.80 kg.
Input definitions
- Divisor
- The number you divide cubic centimeters by, from 1 to 10,000. 5,000 is the example.
- Dimensions
- The outer length, width, and height in centimeters.
Limitations
This does not choose a billable weight and it does not price the parcel.
Questions
Why not compare this with the scale?
That comparison is the dimensional-weight calculator. This page stops at the volume weight.
Can I use inches here?
No. Enter centimeters. Inches belong on the dimensional-weight page.
