Formula
The charge is the weight times the rate, plus handling, rounded to the nearest cent:
Shipping = weight × rate per unit + handling fee
The rate is not looked up from a carrier. Dimensional weight stays on its own page.
Assumptions
- The same rate applies to every unit of weight.
- Handling is charged once.
Worked example
8 pounds at $1.25 per pound plus $2.50 handling costs $12.50.
Input definitions
- Weight
- The units you multiply by the rate. Pounds are the label; the math is the same for kilograms if your rate matches.
- Handling fee
- A fixed amount added once. Zero is allowed.
Limitations
This is a planning estimate, not payroll, tax, shipping, or marketplace advice. The currency control changes the symbol only.
Questions
Will this use a carrier table?
No. You type the rate per unit of weight.
Where is volumetric weight?
The volumetric weight page divides centimeters by a divisor. It does not price the shipment.
