Formula
The offset is fixed by the ITS-90 scale:
°C = K − 273.15
A laboratory temperature in kelvin becomes an everyday Celsius reading.
Assumptions
- Kelvin cannot be below zero.
- The scale follows the ITS-90 offset: 0 °C is 273.15 K.
- A Fahrenheit degree is 5/9 of a Celsius degree.
- The result is shown with up to two decimal places.
Worked example
273.15 K equals 0 °C.
Input definitions
- Kelvin
- An absolute temperature. Zero kelvin is absolute zero.
Limitations
This does not convert to Fahrenheit. Subtract 273.15 first, then use the Celsius-to-Fahrenheit page.
