Formula
A single edge is the division:
inches = pixels / density
The print-size page does width and height together. This page is one measurement.
Assumptions
- The density is pixels per inch.
- The pixels form one straight edge.
- No bleed is added.
Worked example
3,000 pixels at 300 per inch measure 10 in.
Input definitions
- Pixels
- The count along one edge.
- Density
- How many of those pixels are placed in one inch.
Limitations
This is a planning figure from the numbers you type. It is not a measurement of a network, a camera, a printer, or a power supply.
Questions
Why only one number?
Some questions are a single edge. Both edges together stay on the print-size page.
How do I get centimetres?
The pixels-to-centimetres page multiplies the inch result by 2.54 for both edges.
