Formula
The yaw constant converts counts into degrees. The inch then becomes centimetres:
cm/360° = 2.54 × 360 / (DPI × sensitivity × 0.022)
0.022 is the default m_yaw in Source games such as Counter-Strike. The eDPI page does not divide by that yaw.
Assumptions
- The game uses yaw 0.022.
- Windows pointer speed and acceleration are not applied.
- The mouse reports the DPI you type.
Worked example
800 DPI at sensitivity 1 travels 51.95 cm for a full turn.
Input definitions
- Yaw
- Degrees per count. The 0.022 used here is the Source default.
- Centimetres per turn
- How far the mouse moves on the pad to rotate the view 360 degrees.
Limitations
This matches games that use Source yaw 0.022. Another game needs its own yaw, which this page does not store.
Questions
Why not just multiply DPI by sensitivity?
That product is eDPI. Distance on the pad also needs the yaw that turns counts into degrees.
What if my game is not Source?
Do not treat this distance as exact. The eDPI page stays comparable across games because it does not assume a yaw.
