Formula
The difference can be over or under the schedule:
Overtime hours = hours worked − hours scheduled
The overtime pay page turns hours and a rate into money. The work-hours page multiplies a repeating schedule.
Assumptions
- Both numbers are hours in the same period.
- No pay rate is applied.
Worked example
42 hours worked against 40 scheduled is 2 hours over schedule.
Input definitions
- Hours worked
- Hours actually worked.
- Hours scheduled
- Hours that were planned.
Limitations
This does not decide whether an hour is legally overtime.
