Formula
Each person gets an equal share of the amount you already cooked:
serving = batch amount / servings
The recipe-scaling page changes a written ingredient before you cook. This page divides the batch you have.
Assumptions
- Every serving is the same size.
- The unit is a label. Grams are not converted to cups here.
- The batch is the whole amount, not the amount for one person.
Worked example
A batch of 800 g split across 4 servings is 200 g each.
Input definitions
- Batch amount
- The total you cooked or portioned.
- Servings
- How many equal portions you want.
Limitations
This is not a nutrition-label serving and it is not a diet recommendation. It only divides the amount you enter.
Questions
How is this different from recipe scaling?
Scaling multiplies an ingredient when the serving count changes. This page divides a finished total.
Can two people get different amounts?
Not here. Every serving is the batch divided by the serving count.
