Formula
The serving ratio multiplies the written amount:
scaled = amount × desired servings / original servings
The serving-size page divides a finished batch by the number of people. This page changes a written ingredient when the serving count changes. The result is rounded to two decimal places. Cups, grams, and spoons are labels only.
Assumptions
- The original amount already matches the original serving count.
- Every ingredient uses the same factor, including salt and leavening.
- The unit stays whatever you select. This page does not convert cups to grams.
Worked example
200 g written for 4 servings becomes 300 g for 6 servings.
Input definitions
- Ingredient amount
- The quantity written in the original recipe.
- Servings
- The original count and the count you want to cook.
Limitations
Very large batches can change mixing time, pan size, and baking time. This page only scales the written quantity.
Questions
Will this convert 200 grams into cups?
No. Grams, milliliters, spoons, cups, and pieces stay in the unit you choose. Ingredient density is not one number.
Can I scale down as well as up?
Yes. Fewer desired servings produce a smaller amount, as long as both serving counts are greater than zero.
