Formula
Output is divided by the hours worked, and again by the people who worked them:
Units per hour = units produced / hours worked
Units per employee divides the same output by the employee count. Revenue is not part of this result.
Assumptions
- The units, hours, and employees cover the same period.
- Every employee in the count is part of that output.
Worked example
1,200 units in 80 hours by 8 employees is 15.00 per hour.
Input definitions
- Hours worked
- The hours you divide by, from 0.1 upward.
- Employees
- The people who produced the units. At least one is required.
Limitations
This does not price the output or judge quality. A higher count is not automatically a better business result.
Questions
Can I enter revenue instead of units?
No. This page counts units. Average order value and profit margin answer money questions.
What if nothing was produced?
Zero units is 0.00 per hour.
