Formula
Overweight is the bag minus the limit, and it cannot be negative. Extra bags are the same kind of difference:
fee = overweight × rate + extra bags × fee per bag
The weight fee uses the heaviest bag only. The page does not store an airline's table. You type the limit and both fees.
Assumptions
- The weight and the limit use the same unit.
- Only the heaviest bag is checked against the limit.
- Bags beyond the included count each cost the piece fee, even if they are light.
Worked example
A 27 kg bag against a 23 kg limit at $12 per kilogram, plus one extra bag at $40, costs $88.00.
Input definitions
- Weight limit
- The allowance you type for one bag.
- Bags included
- How many pieces are free before the piece fee starts.
Limitations
This is a trip sketch. Prices and rates are numbers you type. The currency control changes the symbol only and does not convert one currency into another.
Questions
Why only one bag's weight?
The overweight charge is for the heaviest bag. Piece fees cover the count. A second overweight bag would need another pass.
Does this know my airline?
No. The limit and the fees are the ones you type.
