Formula
Inches come first, then the international inch:
cm = pixels / DPI × 2.54
The print-size page leads with inches and only mentions centimetres beside them. This page's result is the centimetre pair.
Assumptions
- One inch is 2.54 centimetres.
- Both edges share the density.
- Nothing is snapped to a paper size.
Worked example
2,400 by 3,000 pixels at 300 DPI print at 20.32 × 25.4 cm.
Input definitions
- Density
- Dots, or pixels, per inch. The centimetre result still starts from that inch density.
- Print size
- Both edges in centimetres.
Limitations
This is a planning figure from the numbers you type. It is not a measurement of a network, a camera, a printer, or a power supply.
Questions
Why pass through inches?
DPI is defined per inch. Multiplying by 2.54 is the conversion after that division.
Is 20.32 by 25.4 a paper size?
No. It is 8 by 10 inches. The paper-size page answers the A series.
