Formula
The bill line is energy times the rate:
cost = kWh × price per kWh
The result is rounded to the nearest cent. The electricity cost page is the one that starts from watts and hours.
Assumptions
- The kilowatt-hours are already measured.
- The price is the energy rate, not a fixed monthly charge.
- No regional tariff is stored on this page.
Worked example
740 kWh at $0.15 per kWh costs $111.00.
Input definitions
- Energy
- Kilowatt-hours from a meter, a bill, or another calculator.
- Price per kWh
- The rate you type from your own bill.
Limitations
This is a planning estimate. The rate, sun hours, and losses are numbers you type. It is not a utility bill, a solar design, or a room-by-room load calculation.
Questions
Why not enter watts here?
This page starts after the energy is known. Watts, hours, and days belong on the electricity cost page.
Does changing currency convert the rate?
No. It changes the symbol. Type the price in the currency you already use.
