Still to save

$13,000.00

This is the target minus what you have saved.

Target fund
$18,000.00

Formula

The gap is what is left after current savings:

Still to save = expenses × months − already saved

The result is never below zero. Three to six months is a common target, but you choose the months.

Assumptions

  • Essential expenses are the bills you would still pay without new income.
  • Savings already set aside can be used for that emergency.

Worked example

$3,000 of monthly essentials for 6 months, with $5,000 saved, still needs $13,000.00.

Input definitions

Months to cover
How long the fund should last, from 1 to 24 months.

Limitations

This is an estimate, not a loan offer, tax filing, or investment advice. The currency control changes the symbol only.

Questions

Should I include every expense?

Include costs you cannot drop quickly, such as housing, food, utilities, and required debt payments.

What if I have already saved the target?

Still to save is zero.
