Formula
The gap is the target minus what is already sold. Each remaining period takes an equal share:
Gap = sales target − sold so far
Per period is that gap divided by the periods left, rounded to the nearest cent.
Assumptions
- The remaining periods are equal.
- Nothing already sold is removed from the target a second time.
Worked example
A $120,000.00 target with $45,000.00 sold leaves $75,000.00 still to sell.
Input definitions
- Sold so far
- Revenue already counted toward the target. It may be above the target.
- Periods left
- The remaining weeks, months, or other equal periods, from 1 to 520.
Limitations
This is a planning estimate, not accounting, tax, payroll, or advertising advice. The currency control changes the symbol only.
Questions
What if we are already above the target?
The result shows the amount above the target. The per-period row is then negative because no more sales are required.
Does this set a quota for one person?
No. It splits one remaining gap across periods. Commission is a separate page.
